Bari, city to be discovered!

Bari, capital of the Puglia's region, historical, Mediterranean, beautiful, enchanting, youthful city...all adjectives that give only a glimpse of what this has to offer.
In this blog I will give you a smattering of what you could see, visit and admire in this magnificent city.

Bari in a very old city, in fact its origins date back to 3,500 years before the Bronze Age. Thanks to its strategic geographical position, very soon, it began to make commercial exchanges with the Greece, but as a real city began to be formed only in Roman times.

So if you are a lover of splendid and picturesque architecture, then Bari will not leave you disappointed. You can admire among the most important and appreciated sacred building that are located in the old part of Bari (Bari Vecchia), the Basilica of San Nicola and
the Cathedral of San Sabino.

The first one,  on the other land, communicates a sense of impotent solidity and simplicity at first sight, this Basilica houses two separate souls of Christianity: Catholicism, on the hand and the Orthodox faith, on the other.
The second one, of great importance for remains of the Norman ornament, which boasts a 35 meter high dome.

Between the streets of Bari there is sea air, an air that refreshes, which welcomes and leads to the discovery of the most hidden and unforeseeable corners.

Like "The way of the orecchiette" ("la via delle orecchiette"), which by now has become a fixed stop for the discovery of Bari, which with the slow gestures of the ladies who prepare the fresh orecchiette and their dedication makes the time for a moment stop and come catapulted into another era of tradition and poetry.

Exiting from the western perimeter of old Bari one can see one of the manor house that dominate the city and the ports of Puglia, the majestic Norman Swabian Castle. It was built in the Roman era for defensive purposes, then the Byzantines incorporated it into a more complex fortification system; but under the Normans, in general, the Apulian castles had the function of keeping the most rebellious cities under control.

Obviously Bari is not only this, in fact, you can not miss a walk on the Lungomare Augusto Imperatore, a stretch that surrounds the whole area of old Bari and, above all, in the evening the suffused light show and the relaxed atmosphere makes the journey very suggestive and romantic.

Citizens of Bari love their city so much, an indissoluble love!! And their city reciprocates their love by making available to all, citizens and tourists, its immense beauties.
